it's confirmed. i'm addicted to that jap puzzle that has got the entire - well almost - blue marble agoged.
i find the more complex ones more challengin and interesting. especially one that i had just completed with the centre box of 9 squares completely blank.
it does stretch one's patience and logic, i must say. besides givin the brain a mighty brilliant exercise.

as blahed by krip @ October 25, 2005 06:53 AMthat was exactly how i felt at first, but came up with this method which is quite labourous but erm, foolproof: write on those empty squares all possible numbers which do not appear on the same row and column, note bold is the given number-
9,8,5,3 9,5 9,8,3
6 *1 2 ....... 5
7,8 4 7,8
*#5 is on the same row.
so how do we go from here? see any similarity on the first row? cancel the 8's and 3's, you'll get 9 on the column to your right. that leaves the left column with 8, 5 and 3, and the center with 5. that means 5 occupies there - logically. now 8 and 3 remain. looking at the bottom row, there are 8's also. logically, 3 should be on that remaining cell innit?
sticky situation: what to do with the 7's and 8's? put them aside, and get on with the next box :)
math wasn't my favourite subject at school but then again the education system here killed my interest off by insisting that i followed whatever methods the teachers taught us. regardless if my answers were correct, i'd still be penalised just because. daft "logic" innit?
as blahed by the letter b @ October 24, 2005 02:17 PMYou have a lot more patience than me then. I hate it when I'm almost through and then find out I can't use a space or two. Drives me bonkers. My daughter seems to love it though, but then Math is her favorite subject.
