the tie is dead...

long live the tie!

whilst during my first year in secondary school, sarcasm was hurled at my direction for being one of em few odd types enthusiastic enough to wear the school tie on assembly days. it got to the point one day that i replied, "well, at least i have a sense of decorum which is utterly important for anyone who wants to be respected in society."

and then everyone decided to put on the tie with "pride". twattin copycat cunt's.

i guess we have different perspectives on the impression of a tie-wearer. i do not think it is a british legacy that blokes have to put on ties 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. it's more of the image of professionalism that almost every office here - ie the professional services industry, advertising, blah, both mnc's as well as local - that employees are expected to.

incidentally, the sight of white male with long sleeved shirt and tie never fails to send them native bint's into a spin. how about this, japanese blokes wearing short-sleeved shirts with ties. even my uncle and a jap-language teacher are rightly influenced by this style.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I was a civil servant for near enough 22 years but only wore a tie for 2 of those years, the first 2 at that. There were the odd occasions when a tie was called for when meeting the public or for some business meeting or other, but apart from thet the whole charade of tie wearing would have been pointless.

I akso went to a grammer school where tie wearing was compulsary.

I can't stand the things and never could, though I will wear one when I absolutely have to. Personally I cannot see how wearing a tie aids anyone in doing a job that they are paid to do. They stem from a bloody archaic fashion accessory invented by an arstocratic fop who thought it would help him stand out from the crowd. Then like sheep everyone jumped on the band wagon.

ah, but it's common practice for prefects - and in some cases, class monitors - to put on ties daily over here. one of those several british legacies.

i've heard of horror stories of how someone got nearly shredded into pieces by the machine because of his tie... but again, it's common sense innit?

I wouldn't want to be near anyone who would treat me differently because of my atire, plus, animals tend to try and eat ties.
