can't wait

.. for this film to come to these shores. the characters are so adorable that i'm looking at 'em pigeons in a different light now.

also, it's been a long time since i watched a film based only on the british forces during the second world war.

ta to Miles for the link.

correct me if i'm wrong, the pigeons were also trained and then used to carry plans between units in great britain as they were assumed safe. but there were some that flew off course or were inevitably caught. as correctly depicted in the film innit?

methinks the mice represented the french resistance as they were underground - the subterranean tunnels running under - most of the time.

The Royal Homing Pigeon Service (RHPS)!? Your memory hasn't failed you, they're the squadron the film's about. Although I'm fairly sure the French resistance didn't employ mice.

yep, and if my [failing] memory corrects me, there was sort of a squadron or unit of homing pigeons that carried messages between the resistance and the allied forces. you should carry on scaring those kids :D

Did you know pigeons are the most highly decorated (medal wise) animals in Europe? I've been telling off kids that scare them for ages. Might be the descendant of a war hero!
