aussie Simon's taken upon himself to host this compo this year. good luck, matey. but imagine my horror upon reading someone's nomination for some part-time spastic underaged vocab-challenged whore of a total horizontally-challenged minger.
but of course, to each its own.
be prepared though, the bluemarble domination of subzero-IQ specimens is nigh.

as blahed by redhead blowjob @ October 18, 2005 04:43 PMi agree, but i meant the victim mentality that displayed by those chinese language bloggers - who'd shout "racism by 'em whites!" at first sight - that was pretty disturbing. like as if they ain't racist in the first place. duh.
as for the non-nomination of quality wee island blogs, it's because those doing the nominating are a wee thick to understand the topics. that's why.
as blahed by the letter b @ December 6, 2004 06:52 AMOr it just so happens, it's the expats who blog more than the locals. It figures... as in the case for Singapore, at least we have a few really good ones like Mr. Brown, Mr. Miyagi and Syntax Free, who seem to be absent from the awards so far (oh there's a nom for Mr. Brown I see). But in cases like HK and China, it is true that language is a problem. I guess the locals would be more confortable in their own everyday language like Mandarin or Cantonese and in that way can't really compete in this predominantly English blog awards thingy. And I seriously don't think it's a inferiority complex thing as you have pointed out because no language should feel inferior to another, as all languages are beautiful in their own way.
as blahed by La Idler @ December 6, 2004 05:05 AMif my memory serves me correctly there was an alternative award thingy run by a collective of hk/taiwan/china bloggers for chinese language blogs. the reason for it was that the one ran by phil was very biased as it seemed to be only for those who wrote in english. reading between the lines they were actully implying that phil's was imperialist, read: for expats only.
but of course all this brouhaha is but a jumbled mess of mistranslations and inferiority complex displayed by them slighted "asians".
but to be honest, are most of them well-written? do they engage us in a way that provokes and makes us ponder? and most importantly in english not engrish? i'm afraid not.
It's a shame that most of the nominated blogs are run by expats in Asia. Where are all the local writers, especially in HK, China, etc?
